The natural state of motherhood is unselfishness. When you become a mother, you are no longer the center of your own universe. You relinquish that position to your children. — Jessica Lange
No salary, no benefits, no sleep — being a mother is often referred to as the toughest job in the world. The annual Mother’s Day falls on Sunday, 14th of May this year, and it is a time where you can make your appreciation loud and clear. Whether you give her a call and a hug, or write a heartfelt card, or shower her with gifts, take the time to celebrate what an influential figure she’s been in your life. It’s important to make her feel loved every day of the year, of course, so who doesn’t want an excuse to spoil our mums rotten?
Our parents (or parental figures) have years of experience ahead of us, and it often takes a while for us to truly recognise how wise they are and how hard they try to keep us on the right track. From work conflicts, to relationship advice, to health issues and beauty secrets, our mums have been through it all! No doubt, they’ll also have a story to tell and a few words of wisdom to impart on us.
When it comes to skin care, there’s a good chance that your mum has the same skin type as you, meaning that she’s probably experienced the same issues you’re going through. Listen to her carefully about what works and what doesn’t. Also, keep in mind that what they say are backed by historical evidence — age-old nuggets of wisdom more often than not are popular because they’re true. If your mum tells you to get plenty of sleep, drink lots of water, and not pick your pimples, it’s a good idea to do as they say.
Mothers all around the world have been unselfishly giving up their time and money for their children for as we can remember. Now it’s your turn to give back and make her feel gorgeous, pampered and truly appreciated.
We recommend running a bath, giving her a luxurious massage, then treating mum to our Ultimate Youth Power series. This anti-ageing range can leave her skin looking refreshed and glowing, helping to replenish the skin’s moisture. By promoting skin elasticity, it can visibly reduce fine lines and wrinkles too.
You don’t need to wait for Mother’s Day to make her feel special.
